People have been fishing since the 16th century. Fishing has been an ancient practice for many years. Charles Kirby designed an improved fishing hook in 1655. Fishing has been around since the time of cavemen, who used the method to get food to survive. An average fishermen spends $1,261 every year on the sport. More than 44 million Americans six years of age and older enjoy fishing every year. People began fishing in Africa in 200,000 BC.The first people who left Africa, about 60,000 years ago, may have been following schools of fish along the African coast. The Fishermen is also known as the angler.
The fishing poles date to early Greek and Roman culture.The inventor of the first fishing pole is unknown. The first fishing reel consisted with a with a metal ring that fitted over the angler’s thumb. The fishing rod is a long, flexible rod used to catch a fish. The length of the rod can go between two and twenty feet. Traditionally poles are made from bamboo. One of the first reels was called “Nottingham.” Which appeared a hundred and fifty years ago. The first line made to be put on the fishing pole was made up of horsehair.
