History and Background
The game of softball is similar to baseball but it is played with a larger ball and on a smaller playing field. Softball facts tell us that women’s fastpitch was first included in the 1996 olympic summer games in Atlanta,Georgia. In the game of softball there are two types, pitch and fastpitch.Softball was first introduced on Thanksgiving day in 1887 at the Harvard-Yale football game. Fastpitch and slowpitch have many differences that include the windup, bunting, and height.
The first women's team was formed in 1895 in Chicago’s west division High School in the United States. Softball despite its name is far from a soft spot for starters the ball isn't soft. Collage softball is harder than High School softball. Playing softball involves running, throwing, and swinging a bat. It requires strength, speed and hand-eye coordination to be successful. Playing softball can be fun and lead to better health. Proper training and conditioning can greatly improve your skills and make your team more competitive.
