History Of France
France is a very populated place. It has 66.81 million people living there. France has many tourist attractions, including the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower was built in 1889 for the World Fair hosted in France. It is made of wrought iron and paint. It was supposed to be temporary and it almost got taken down in 1908, but they decided it was a good signal tower. Audrey Hepburn, who was a famous actress, once said, “Paris is always a good idea.”
In 1789, a civil war came. The commoners were unhappy with the way they were being treated by the aristocrats. Disease and starvation broke out. An aristocrat by the name of Marie Antoinette, was asked what to do about the starvation of the commoners. She fatally replied, “Let them eat cake!” The commoners were in an uproar. They could barely afford bread, much less cake. Marie Antoinette was later murdered by using a guillotine to behead her. A book about the French Revolution, that was later turned into a Broadway play, and then a movie, was called “Les Miserable.” It follows commoners who revolt against the aristocrats.
